![]() It was a challenge while gearing and a relaxing experience after you started raiding to clear 3-4 dungeons and fill up your weekly valor. ![]() ![]() To me, Cata system was perfection because that’s the last time we had big open-ended dungeons that were difficult enough for the time to fully prepare you for NM raiding, and the justice/valor systems kept them relevant but not mandatory since you could also get valor from raiding. Now unless you’re hyper-casual that doesn’t even touch group content, you basically have to keep grinding M+ throughout the expansion since if you don’t, you’re losing a LOT of opportunities to gear up and will be left behind quickly. There simply hasn’t been any chill in WoW’s endgame for years now, because earlier you had a clear stopping point when you were “done” with the dungeons and were free to start raiding. You get familiar with dungeons shortly after hitting cap, you start getting tired of them while gearing through HC and M0, and then the repetition gets dialled to 11 especially with atrocious affixes like fortified and tyrannical. With M+, you’re doing the same dungeons for 2 years straight, 0 variation aside from affixes which are NOT new content. I always gladly progress through NM and HC until I get curve and then keep farming the raid for a month or so after that until it gets boring, then you can stop and wait for a new tier. We get a new raid tier every few months with a completely different list of bosses and a new aesthetic. The personal favorite is the room of the third boss in NW, where you spend 20-30% of the dungeon clearing 20 trash packs in ONE ROOM, and an ugly room at that.īut most of all, I detest the repetition. ![]() The dungeon layout in SL is probably the worst it’s ever been, they are nothing but thinly veiled hallways with pretty skyboxes in the background. We can’t even get a Scarlet Monastery type that has up to 4 dungeons as a part of one area because again, due to their insistence on making them as difficult and as tedious as possible, we are also getting fewer dungeons than ever, so there’s no room for experimentation. We’re never again gonna get huge open dungeons such as Mauradon or Dire Maul because since the devs are dead set on cramming 15 mechanics into every boss and trash pack, they can’t ever be that long or big otherwise they’d mess with their precious MDI and take too much time to design. Ever since I started hating the concept more and more, because of both how important it is and how much it ruined the dungeon system.ĭue to its popularity, it’s almost never going away or changing at all at this point, so all that we’re gonna keep getting from now on is an endless repetition of tryhard corridors designed to be as tedious as possible and rushed through. Like many people, I loved the concept and the idea at first, and really liked them in Legion when they were a novelty. ![]()
